Heavy rain triggered flash floods across several parts of the Klang Valley on Monday afternoon (November 2), leaving roads inundated, disrupting traffic and flooding residential and commercial areas, according to Malay Mail.
Areas affected
Videos and photographs shared on social media showed flooding in Denai Alam, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Bukit Jalil, Subang and along the Federal Highway near Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya. In Denai Alam, motorists were reported to be turning back, and Berita Harian said vehicles entering from the DASH highway had to retreat, with flooding along the road towards Denai Alam. In Kampung Melayu Subang, a social media user reported severe flooding with water rising very high around homes, while photos from Subang showed a parking area near Proton with several vehicles partly submerged.
Traffic impact
Astro Radio Traffic reported at 3.27pm that flash floods along the Federal Highway had caused heavy traffic between Templer and KL Gateway, while Jalan Bukit Pantai in Bangsar was moving slowly because of flooding. Rising water was also reported on the route from Bukit Jalil towards Puchong, and heavy rain with strong winds was seen near USJ 9 in Subang Jaya.
Wider forecast
The Malaysian Meteorological Department had earlier forecast thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across all 13 states and three Federal Territories until 7pm on the same day. Drivers are advised to avoid flooded roads, check traffic updates before travelling and follow official weather warnings, especially with the Northeast Monsoon season approaching.
