Reported as of 1 October 2026 (Malaysia time). Details may change as stories develop.
The Finance Ministry has trimmed weekly pump prices for the period 1 to 7 October 2026. Unsubsidised RON97 drops five sen to RM5.00 a litre, unsubsidised RON95 slips five sen to RM4.52, and unsubsidised diesel falls by a larger 15 sen to RM5.27.
Officials credit the easing to a moderation in average global crude prices under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism, helped by the resumption of operations on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline. The ministry cautioned that supply remains uneven, since another major Russian refinery has stopped running after a drone strike, which limits diesel exports to the world market.
For households using the targeted subsidy scheme, nothing changes. BUDI95 users keep paying RM1.99 a litre, with the government absorbing RM2.53 per litre, or 56 per cent of the unsubsidised price. BUDI Diesel users stay at RM2.10, backed by a RM3.17 subsidy.
The dip is welcome but modest. It follows two weeks of steep increases that pushed RON97 up by 55 sen, so pump prices remain well above where they stood a month ago. Because the mechanism resets every week, anyone budgeting for fuel, delivery or transport should expect another announcement next Wednesday.
