JPJ Cracks Down on Illegal Motorcycle Transport Around Sepang F1 Venue

The Road Transport Department's action against illegal motorcycle transport around the Sepang venue targets a familiar side effect of big events. When thousands of fans need rides, unlicensed operators appear, often without proper insurance, safety checks or regulated fares.

Enforcement protects passengers, who may not realise that an unlicensed ride can leave them without coverage in an accident. It also protects licensed e-hailing and taxi drivers who follow the rules and pay the costs of doing so.

Still, crackdowns work best when paired with options. If official shuttles, park-and-ride and clearly signposted pick-up points are convenient and affordable, demand for illegal rides drops naturally. Organisers should treat transport planning as an essential part of the event experience, not an afterthought.

Bottom line: the goal is a safe, orderly trip home for every fan, and the best enforcement is a legal alternative that people actually want to use. Passengers should always confirm they are boarding a licensed service.
