Melaka Housewife Arrested for Posing as a Senior Immigration Officer

Reported as of 1 October 2026 (Malaysia time). Details may change as stories develop.

The Melaka Immigration Department has arrested a housewife in her 50s on suspicion of impersonating a senior immigration officer and offering to process work passes for foreigners. She was detained at a cafe in Taman Malim Jaya, after which officers raided a condominium in Kota Laksamana and seized items linked to the impersonation.

The case came to light through a reported deal worth RM6,000 for a work permit. Preliminary investigations suggest she may have been carrying out the activity for as long as two years, offering unofficial services for work permits and temporary visit passes to several people.

The department urged the public to use only official channels for immigration matters. Fake agents often prey on foreign workers and employers who are in a hurry, and victims can lose money and end up with documents that do not exist or cannot be used.

A few simple checks can help. Ask for official identification and confirm the officer's details with the nearest immigration office. Never pay cash to an individual for a government service, and keep records of every application. If a deal sounds quick and unofficial, treat it as a warning sign and report it to the authorities.
