Russia Launches Another Major Missile-and-Drone Assault on Ukraine

Russia has launched yet another major missile-and-drone assault on Ukraine, with reports saying at least 11 people were killed and energy infrastructure among the targets. It is a pattern that has become grimly familiar, and the human cost never stops being real.

Striking energy facilities has consequences far beyond the buildings themselves. Power cuts affect hospitals, water supply, heating and the simple ability to charge a phone and call loved ones. As the colder months approach, damaged infrastructure can turn into a survival question for ordinary families.

Every number in a report like this represents people. Eleven lives lost means eleven families whose worlds have changed, and many more who wait anxiously after each siren. It is easy for those far away to become numb to the headlines, but that numbness is something we should resist.

The wider question is where this leads. Months and years of attacks have shown how difficult it is to find a path to peace, and the war keeps reshaping politics, economies and security thinking around the globe. Even in Malaysia, we feel the effects through energy prices and supply chains.

I do not have easy answers. What I do believe is that civilians should never be the target, and that international attention matters. Keep reading reliable sources, support humanitarian efforts if you can, and remember that behind every headline there are real people hoping for the day when the sirens finally stop.
